Continuation Project for Integration Soil and Groundwater Contamination Health Risk Map Framework

To continue promoting and utilizing risk assessment concept into contaminated site management framework, as well as strengthening risk map tool, this project developed “Risk Map Analyzing and Information Displaying Platform” by using risk map ArcGIS tool kit module as the backbone and in references with other online information platform constructing technique and framework. This platform can easily and effortlessly complete online risk assessment and risk map generation tasks. Additionally, all the results can be viewed online instantly. This project also completed analyzing current SGPRA’s need, future possible law amendment, and contaminated site management methods. All the analyzing results all feedbacked to developing 2 decision support modules: remediation planning module and control standard developing module. Both modules are expected to provide necessary information to assist in decision making. Finally, in order to verify and examine the feasibility and rationality of “Risk Map Analyzing and Information Displaying Platform”, this project selected CPC Kaohsiung Refinery to perform human health risk assessment and generate its associated risk maps. All the associated experiences were channeling back in revising the platform. This trial assessment also acted as demonstration project for pollution responsible party who wish to apply risk management into their site management strategies.
